Registration is open now for day camps during Winter Break, which is February 17-21 for the City Schools of Decatur. Sign up soon for your preferred 1-5 days of field trip camp or on site camp, because spots are filling fast. For those interested in field trip camp for ages 5-11, our itinerary includes:
Monday - A hike to High Falls and a sampling of artesian spring water at Indian Springs
Tuesday - A hike and scavenger hunt at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center
Wednesday - A visit to Georgia Aquarium
Thursday - A trip to the Center for Puppetry Arts show "Stellaluna" about a baby bat finding a home with a bird family
Friday - A tour at North Georgia Zoo
The cost is $95 (1 day), $190 (2 days), $285 (3 days), $375 (4 days) or $465 (5 days), with drop-off of 8:15-8:45 a.m. and pickup from 5:30-6 p.m.
On site camp also is available for ages 5-9. The fun includes nature art, crafts or woodworking; wildlife studies with animal interactions; plant explorations with gardening; hands-on environmental science; and active movement, including nature yoga or games. Cost is $70 (1 day), $140 (2 days), $210 (3 days), $275 (4 days) or $340 (5 days), with drop-off at 9 a.m. and pickup at until 5:30 p.m.
